The human head literally and figuratively is the center of thought, sensation, emotion, the font of creative expression, and the embodiment of self-identity. Having studied psychology, long-abandoned aspirations of becoming a brain surgeon, a twenty- year plus career as a professional dancer, and currently a dance teacher, choreographer and competitive fencer, for decades I have been fascinated by the mind-body connection and the head in particular as the physical center for emotions, thought processes and the sense of self.
My most recent body of work “Headspace” explores and expresses in physical form various aspects, abstractions and iterations centering around the head as the focus and representation of the mind-body connection and the human experience.
